Hang on to your Pump-tinis, we’ve got major Vanderpump Rules news. After two chaotic final seasons, Bravo is replacing the entire Vanderpump Rules cast for season 12—except for Lisa Vanderpump of course. That’s right, folks. Get your goodbyes in to the Toms, Ariana, Katie, Lala, Scheana, and James now, because their VPR days are officially behind them—which might explain the tone of finality in the season 11 finale.
“What a thrill it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again,” executive producer Alex Baskin said in a press release. “With profound appreciation for the original group and their iconic run, we can’t wait for the audience to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together.”
In her own statement, Vanderpump said, “The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between,” and thanked the OG cast for sharing their lives for over a decade. “In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules,” she added.
Already, OG cast-members have begun saying their own goodbyes on social media. “I have such mixed feelings right now. It’s no secret I do not like change. This is the exception. I want to say thank you for rocking with us for so many years,” wrote Lala Kent on Instagram. Katie Maloney wrote on her IG Stories, “It’s a mixed bag. But I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Vanderpump Rules became an unexpected hit when it premiered in 2013, and followed a group of friends who all worked at Vanderpump’s West Hollywood restaurant, SUR (Sexy Unique Restaurant Restaurant & Lounge).
But by season 9, the original cast had mostly all moved on to podcasting and DJ careers instead of waiting tables, and the show seemed to be losing steam.
Then, Hurricane Scandoval hit in season 10, briefly making VPR national news, but one affair can only sustain one cast of former friends for so long, apparently.
