A dog owner from San Diego revealed the one thing her pup does when he smells their neighbors cooking dinner and internet users can’t cope with how cute it is.
In a viral TikTok video, shared on Wednesday under the username @tuckerandshannon, the eight-year-old Dalmatian can be seen standing outside his neighbors’ front door as he smells them cooking dinner, and they immediately let him in.
“My dog will wait at my neighbor’s door when he smells them cooking dinner until… They let him in,” says layover text in the clip.
About 10 minutes later the pup comes out of the house licking his lips, walking back home with a full belly, and a happy, wiggling tail.
“Wonder what he had today!” says the caption.
The poster, Shannon, 32, told Newsweek that Tucker has stolen the heart of the entire neighborhood, and he frequently checks out the neighbors’ home to see if anything exciting is happening in the kitchen.
“We spend a lot of time outside so anytime he smells something delicious, he heads over to investigate. They give him bits and pieces, but to be honest, it’s a mystery what happens when he goes inside! Sometimes he comes out with crumbs on his mouth or he is licking his lips,” she said.
Shannon added that the neighbors don’t have any dogs of their own, but they are always happy to help out with Tucker, and kindly give him a little snack every time he asks for it.
There is nothing a dog likes more than human food, but while they can eat some of our foods with no problems, others can be toxic to them. So before your feed your dog anything from your plate, be sure it’s approved by veterinarians.
Veterinarian website Bondi Vets lists the most common food that dogs can’t eat, including chocolate, garlic, onions, chives, grapes including raisins and sultanas, avocados, macadamia nuts, citrus fruits, caffeine, alcohol, nutmeg and raw dough.
On the other hand, the website’s list of foods our pups can safely eat include red and white mean (cooked, unseasoned and without bones), cooked or dried salmon (without bones), pumpkin, sweet potatoes, apples, eggs, oats and blueberries.
Dogs can’t tell what is safe and what isn’t, and sometimes they may eat something toxic while out of your sight. If your pup ate something toxic they will show signs including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, drooling and difficulty breathing.
Other symptoms of food poisoning according to a Vet Explains Pets article by Georgia-based veterinarian Dr. Jess Kirk, include loss of appetite, tremors and seizures, pale gums, increased heart rate and behavioral changes.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 850,400 views and 132,500 likes on the platform.
One user, Idk, commented: “The way he came out licking his lips. Ohh he’s about to have a good, long nap.”
Sdrandolph09 said: “He invited himself over for hot meal.”
Chaz added: “Well I hate to eat and run but y’all are know what’s up, so same time tomorrow? u still doing burgers right”
