Bake Lively – sorry, Blake Lively – is no stranger to whipping up treats in the kitchen. Ever watch that Vogue video where she makes a key lime pie without a recipe? It’s impressive! But even the most proficient bakers have their off days, as any fan of The Great British Baking Show knows. And Lively just shared one of her biggest failures.
On Instagram Stories, the A Simple Favor actor posted pictures of a time in some yuletide past when she attempted the “Half Baked Harvest” recipe for Santa-shaped cookies – basically, colored balls of sugar cookie dough arranged to make a little Saint Nick.
However, Lively must have missed some step or ingredient, because her Santa spread in the oven to create a sheet of colorful blobs. Might still taste okay, though?
After sharing her mishap, Blake Lively promoted the Half Baked Harvest cookbook, which is currently on sale on Amazon for Black Friday, which, as Lively notes, isn’t just for Fridays anymore. But while we here at Glamour would never discourage you from buying a little something to celebrate the season, you should know that this particular recipe is also available (for free) online. Here’s the link.
Definitely check out the pictures of the finished product as baked by chef Tieghan Gerard, who added a little frosting beard and a candy button nose to her Santas. It’s really quite cute.
Lively has been in a self-deprecating mood lately, recently sharing an unflattering picture of herself to celebrate a friend’s birthday. “Find you a girl who spends New Years with you while you’re snotty and have a cold but she won’t let you miss the fun so she brings it to you,” Lively wrote over the pic of herself with pal Samantha Stone. “Always. Because that’s who she is. Fun. Kindness. Goodness.”
You can’t take life too seriously!
