Slowly but surely, the holiday season is approaching. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah, and New Year’s Eve are all right around the corner and we find ourselves asking: What should I wear? A dress? Again?
Luckily, Zendaya came to our rescue this winter, proving with her latest look that one does not have to wear a skirt or a dress in order to look dressed up and festive. The 28-year-old opted for silk trousers for a “Zendaya Double Feature” at Warner Bros. Studios on November 16. Anyone who thinks that an evening outfit with trousers is too plain or too masculine hasn’t seen Zendaya’s shimmering silk pants.
For the screening, Zendaya wore silk rose-gold cargo-trousers with flat pockets at the thighs. She styled the trousers with a matching blush cardigan with a discreet button placket. Sounds unspectacular, but it’s not: The fine fabric of the cardigan is transparent, revealing a bandeau bra in the same color underneath.
A little bit of skin peeks out through the half-open cardigan, giving the outfit a sensual touch. Thanks to the shimmering hero piece—Zendaya’s silk trousers—her look doesn’t need any flashy makeup or statement accessories in order to catch the eye. Simple beige patent pumps, with just the toe peeking out from under the wide hem of the pants, complete the look.
Zendaya has skillfully proven that party dressing doesn’t always have to be a skirt or dress in order to be considered feminine and romantic. This winter season, we’re happy to forgo tried-and-true classics, swapping them instead for silk or satin trousers à la Zendaya.
However, this It piece can be worn for more than just festive occasions—it’s perfect for a wintery everyday look as well. A cozy, chunky-knit sweater and warm boots are all you need. The combination of cozy wool and flowing satin creates an interesting material contrast that looks effortlessly chic, especially with monochrome outfits.
