With the Rebel Moon films in his rearview, Zack Snyder is set to reteam with Netflix on an untitled project on the Los Angeles Police Department, in early development at the streamer, Deadline has confirmed.
The film co-written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad — a longtime collaborator on projects like 300 and Rebel Moon — is set in a high-stakes world of life and death, watching as an elite LAPD unit is relentlessly confronted with the unforgiving collision of law and morality.
Snyder will produce alongside wife and creative partner Deborah Snyder, as well as his partner Wesley Coller for Stone Quary. This marks the fourth feature to fall under the creative partnership between Stone Quarry and Netflix, after Rebel Moon and Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. Stone Quarry also produced Army of the Dead and Army of Thieves for Netflix, and debuted animated series Twilight of the Gods on the streamer in September.
As previously mentioned, Snyder is coming off of Rebel Moon, an epic sci-fi saga that unspooled in two installments in December 2023 and April 2024. While the films debuted with significant anticipation, they struggled to meet expectations, both critically and commercially, even as they both spent time atop Netflix’s viewership charts. Prior to the two-parter, Snyder helmed Netflix’s zombie flick Army of the Dead, which for a time stood as the eighth most-watched original film in the history of the streamer.
