Everybody wants to sit court side until you’re almost trampled by a basketball player in the middle of a game. Just ask Anne Hathaway, whose mother-son outing at a Knicks game on November 13 was this close to ending in a hospital visit, or at least tears, when a rogue pass caused a player to crash into where she and her son Jack were sitting in the stands.

A video of the incident shared by Bleacher Report shows Knicks player Ogugua “OG” Anunoby running to intercept a pass, and accidentally running into the stands where Hathaway (wearing a fabulous diamond collar necklace, by the way) and her 5-year-old little boy were sitting. The crash knocked over Jack’s popcorn, but luckily that seems like the extent of the injuries. The clip goes on to show Hathaway rubbing Jack’s arm comfortingly while he looks a little stunned.
“The lil kid was mesmerized. He couldn’t move,” joked one of the announcers.
Anne Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman have two sons together. They have Jack, who was born in 2019, and Jonathan Rosebanks, who was born in 2016.
In 2022, Hathaway told WSJ Magazine, “I didn’t feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom. It’s not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word.”
