Kyle Richards has been through a lot in the last couple of years. Amid friendship drama and the entire Bravo universe questioning her sexuality, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was also navigating a heartbreaking separation from her longtime husband, Mauricio Umansky. Going through these major life changes would be difficult for anybody, let alone someone who has to do it in front of the entire world — which is likely why Richards “hesitated” to return to the hit Bravo show for Season 14.
Despite going through a tumultuous time in her life, Richards — who is the only remaining OG cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — decided to come back for the upcoming season, which premieres on Bravo on Nov. 19.
“I’m feeling better now that it’s over,” Richards told DECIDER over a Zoom interview. “I didn’t feel great going into it. I hesitated to go back.”
Richards’ marriage was heavily questioned by her castmates throughout Season 13; however, she didn’t fully open up about their separation until the final moments of the season finale. The Halloween actress was also put in the hot seat regarding her close friendship with Morgan Wade at the reunion, where didn’t exactly shut down the possibility of a future romantic relationship with the country singer.
Not to mention, Richards had also begun feuding with her longtime friend Dorit Kemsley, who also announced her separation earlier this year.
Because of everything she had been through, Richards “did not think” she was “ready” to return to reality television — and we don’t blame her.
“I thought it was too soon,” she told us. “With last season and the stuff going on in my personal life, I just didn’t think that I could or wanted to do it. But then, of course, I did.”
The longtime reality star joked that she had her “first meltdown in 14 years,” before cheekily adding, “You know what? I think I was due. Never happened before. So I was definitely due.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 premieres Tuesday, Nov. 19 on Bravo.
