The pop superstar Lana Del Rey has made it official with her longtime boyfriend, Jeremy Dunfre, an alligator swamp tour guide in Louisiana.
Del Rey, 39, and Dunfre, 49, filed a marriage license with the Lafourche Parish clerk of court in Thibodaux, La., on Friday, according to The Associated Press, which reported that it had obtained the document.
A Sept. 26 ceremony was officiated by the celebrity pastor Judah Smith, best known for being a spiritual adviser to Justin Bieber and as the lead theologian of Churchome, a megachurch outside Seattle, according to the document cited by A.P.
Questions about whether the couple said “I do” hit a fever pitch online and on social media in recent weeks, and pictures of their wedding flooded the internet. According to The A.P., the singer and songwriter exchanged vows with Dunfre in Des Allemands, La., where Dunfre works as a captain at Airboat Tours by Arthur.
It was unclear exactly when the couple began dating, but pictures posted to Del Rey’s Facebook page show the “Video Games” singer on one of Mr. Dunfre’s boat tours in 2019.
Here are some other celebrities who have married someone they met out in the world, with no connection to their work or fame.
Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, a retired asphalt contractor, has long flown under the radar despite Parton’s rise to fame.
The two married in 1966 on Memorial Day in Georgia, and the only family member there was Ms. Parton’s mother, according to the singer’s website. Ms. Parton was 18, and Mr. Dean was 21 at the time. The couple met two years earlier at a laundromat in Nashville.
“I was surprised and delighted that while he talked to me, he looked at my face (a rare thing for me). He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about,” she wrote on the site.
The two are still married, almost 60 years later.
Taylor Lautner
Taylor Lautner met Taylor Dome, a registered nurse, during a game night arranged by his sister, according to an interview on “Live with Kelly and Mark.”
The couple married in 2022 and became Taylor and Taylor Lautner (sometimes referred to as the “Taylors”). Mrs. Lautner now hosts a podcast called “The Squeeze” about mental health, with occasional appearances from Mr. Lautner as well.
Elizabeth Taylor
In 1991, the actress Elizabeth Taylor married Larry Fortensky, a construction worker, in an elaborate ceremony at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Ynez, Calif., as celebrity guests rubbed elbows with Jackson’s giraffes, zebras and llamas.
Taylor, one of the most famous women in the world at the time, met Fortensky in 1988 at the Betty Ford Clinic, where they were being treated for substance abuse, The Times reported.
Five years later, the couple divorced. The divorce was Fortensky’s third and Taylor’s eighth.
Taylor vowed to not marry again.
Matt Damon
Matt Damon met his wife, Luciana Barroso, while in 2003 while he was filming the comedy “Stuck on You” in Miami.
According to a 2018 interview with Vogue Australia, Barroso said that Damon and his crew went to a bar in South Beach where she was bartending one evening. Though Damon’s version of the night is that he saw her from across the room and wanted to talk to her, Barroso said he had hidden for cover behind the bar because he was getting recognized by other patrons. She put him to work, and he started making drinks, a skill he picked up while training for a previous role. They raked in the tips, she said.
“It turned into a really fun night,” Barroso told the magazine. The couple wed at a small private ceremony in New York City in 2005.
Wanda Sykes
In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, Wanda Sykes recalled first seeing Alex Niedbalski on a ferry to Fire Island in New York. “Something really said to me — like, audibly — ‘Wow, that’s what you need, Wanda,’” Sykes said in the interview.
The next day, a friend introduced the two women. Niedbalski, of France, was a businesswoman who sold granite countertops, and Sykes was remodeling her kitchen. They married in 2008, and Sykes came out publicly in a speech weeks later at a Las Vegas rally in support of same-sex marriage.
