The Philadelphia Eagles are playing the New York Giants, and are hoping to come away with a big win. However, they will have to do so without their star starting tackle.
Injury Update: T Mekhi Becton (concussion) is out.
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) October 20, 2024
The Eagles officially announced that Becton has been ruled out with a concussion. This is a huge hit for Philadelphia’s offense, as Becton is one of the biggest anchors for this offensive line.
Losing Becton for the game places another big issue for the Eagles regarding the offense line. The team recently placed left tackle Jordan Mailata on injured reserve, after he suffered a significant hamstring injury.
With Becton being taken out of the game, the Eagles are now down both their starting left and right tackles. Backup tackle Tyler Steen is now in at tackle to replace Becton.
Despite Becton being out, the Eagles are doing what they can to ensure running back Saquon Barkley has the perfect “revenge” game against his former team. At the time of this writing, the Eagles are currently 14-0, with Barkley having already racked up 75 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
The Eagles have had an up-and-down 2024 so far. The team is currently 3-2 on the season, picking up wins against the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Cleveland Browns. The team has also lost to the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The NFC East is starting to heat up. Currently, the Washington Commanders are in first place with a 4-2 record. Right behind them are the Dallas Cowboys with a 3-3 record and the Eagles with a 3-2 record. A win today would place the Eagles tied for first place.
Losing Mailata and Becton is going to severely impact the Eagles’ offensive line.
