Jason Segel shared some heartwarming sentiments about what it’s like to share the screen with vet Harrison Ford.
In a preview clip of Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, the Shrinking actor said his costar on the Apple TV+ dramedy — about a grieving therapist who throws the rulebook out the window in favor of extreme candidness — helps calm his anxious tendencies about whether he’s putting forth his best work as a performer.
“If you have a complicated brain, that wants to tell you that something is wrong or you didn’t get it quite right or you zigged where you should have zagged or what could’ve been, and all of the sudden, you find yourself standing across from Harrison Ford doing acting, it is impossible to feel like it didn’t all work out,” Segel said.
The Emmy nominee concluded, “I was standing there like, ‘Oh, you’re right where you’re supposed to be.’”

Segel’s appearance comes amid the second season release of Shrinking, which premiered two of its 12 episodes Oct. 16. Just a day later, it was announced that the show — which hails from Segel, Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein (the latter two of another popular Apple TV+ show that tackles mental health, Ted Lasso) — was renewed for a third installment.
In addition to leads Segel and Ford, Shrinking features Jessica Williams as their coworker Gaby, Michael Urie as Jimmy’s (Segel) best friend Brian, Luke Tennie as one of Jimmy’s clients Sean, Lukita Maxwell as Jimmy’s daughter Alice, Christa Miller as Jimmy and Alice’s neighbor Liz and Ted McGinley as Liz’s husband Derek.
