David and Victoria Beckham, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, and now, Lily-Rose Depp and 070 Shake. These are couples that go beyond “simply looking good together,” and rise into the upper echelons of Hollywood It-couple dressing. Whether by coincidence or pure design, they always look perfect when they emerge, in vaguely matching outfits, one arm artfully slung around the other.
Lily-Rose Depp and rapper 070 Shake have nailed matchy-matchy dressing so well over the past 20 months it’s almost painful to look at.
One resembles an off-duty ’90s model, the other a drummer in a grunge band, so together they feel like the sort of pair that might have feasibly been snapped outside the Viper Room circa 1994—but, like, the Gen Z version. I think one reason they work so well together, stylistically, is because they tend to skew low-key and effortless. When they were pictured leaving a Charli XCX and Troye Sivan show in Los Angeles yesterday—Depp in super low-rise boot-cuts and a leopard print cami, Shake in a boxy beige Acne Studios jacket and biker boots—they looked like they’d just woken up and decided to attend last minute, quickly throwing on the suedes they had by the door. Alongside the ultimate accessory of course: a backstage Sweat tour guest pass.
This isn’t the first time that Lily-Rose Depp and 070 Shake have emerged looking like a sort of baby-faced second coming of Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. Last year, the pair was spotted in those iconic coordinated all-black outfits while ferociously making out on the streets of New York. And they were also snapped by Zora Sicher wrapped up in bed in matching studded denim. The second best ultimate accessory? Unapologetic PDA, obviously.
