For the last few weeks, Princess Kate’s younger brother James Middleton has been talking to journalists about his new book, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, which is about his experience with depression and how being a dog owner helped him through his toughest times. The promotional tour for the book, however, has included plenty of lighthearted moments, and in a recent interview with the Telegraph, he mentioned that Kate and sister Pippa Matthews spend plenty of with with him, his wife, Alizée Thevenet, and their one-year-old son Inigo.
In a description of his usual Saturday routine on his farm in West Berkshire, he mentioned that he likes to travel to the nearby home of his parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, to visit with his extended family. “We’ll often stop at my parents’ house for tea or supper,” he said. “My sisters and I are all within 30 minutes’ drive, so there is often an aunt or a cousin passing through, too.”
Middleton added that his nieces and nephews—Kate’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and Pippa’s children Arthur, Grace, and Rose Matthews—are already important presences in his son’s life. “The cousins all play their role in looking after Inigo—there’s seven of them altogether at the moment,” he said. “I think they’re all impressed at how much of a mess Inigo can make. But there’s lots of laughter and giggles about.”
Though Middleton has been speaking about his relationship with Kate, he has avoided talking about her recent experience undergoing treatment for an unspecified form of cancer. “She’s doing okay,” he told Today on September 26. “It’s not for me to share on her behalf, you know, how everything’s going. But she’s getting all the right support and focus that she needs. And like anything, it takes time to process.”
