For years now, the pop star has been an avid fan of the Ray-Ban Wayfarer, the brand’s most iconic style, which served as inspiration for the shape of her 1989 tour sunglasses. Because she’s repeatedly worn all of these items, it’s safe to say they’re part of the permanent Taylor Swift Closet Collection, not loaners like some of her pieces. Sarah Chapelle, author of Taylor Swift Style, told Glamour, “I assume that many of her outings are styled with smatterings of personal pieces that she herself has acquired. I know it seems farfetched, but I do think she actually does a small amount of shopping on her own, which I think is a key part of her appeal. That quirk factor to her outfits. The personal whimsy she sometimes brings to her styling.”
Chapelle also explained why the mega star sticks to “safe” styles. “Generally speaking, what draws people to Taylor’s fashion is not for looks that challenge trends or push the needle, and that is okay. I mean, Taylor Swift made headlines when she cut her hair into a bob. That was a huge, earthquake-level change in her cinematic universe,” she said.
