White is not the only running back who is listed as questionable for the Week 4 matchup. The Buccaneers also have their rookie running back, Bucky Irving, listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury.
Since the Buccaneers didn’t elevate an additional running back from the practice squad, this could bite the Bucs in the butt if neither of these players is good to go by Sunday. These two players will likely be a game-time decision as more comes out prior to their 1:00 p.m. ET kick-off on Sunday.
White, 25, has played in all three games for the Bucs and has recorded 66 yards on 31 carries. It’s been a struggle for the third-year back thus far, and now an illness may keep him out for the first time this season.
White is averaging 2.1 yards per carry with a rushing success rate of 35.5 percent and has rushed for 22.0 yards per game. White has not done his part, but the opposite can be said for Irving.
Irving, 22, has taken advantage of his opportunities. In three games, he has tallied 25 rush attempts for 154 yards and has a success rate of 48 percent. As for his receiving skills, he has five receptions for 28 yards. He has yet to reach the end zone, and so has White.
In White’s career, he has recorded 423 rush attempts for 1,537 yards, averages 3.6 yards per carry, and has seven touchdowns on the ground. His 2023 season has been his best thus far, as he recorded a career-high 990 rushing yards and 1,539 scrimmage yards.
So far this season, White is still being played like the primary running back in Tampa Bay. He’s played over 70 percent of snaps each week and averaged 9.5 points per game.
The Buccaneers will look to move to 3-1 on the season after dropping their Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The Eagles will also look to move to 3-1 and take complete control of the NFC East.
The Buccaneers are currently home underdogs. They have a 37.8 percent chance to win on Sunday with the spread set at +1, according to ESPN Bet.
