A hot new bombshell enters the villa today… of course, we’re talking about the brand new AirPods 4.
AirPods were last updated in 2021 with the release of the AirPods 3, so the AirPods 4 launch has been a long time coming and it’s here, on sale as of today, with a number of significant upgrades.
To start, the AirPods 4 are the first model to feature active noise cancellation (not to be confused with the AirPods Pro, which has always included a noise cancellation feature).
It also uses Apple’s H2 headphone chip, which is also used in the AirPods Pro 2, so you can expect the audio quality of the new pair to be on par with that model.
They’ve also been redesigned for comfort with new contours and a shorter stem. The case has gotten a redesign, too, and is currently the smallest one in the AirPods lineup. It charges via USB-C, but also has compatibility with compatibility with Qi and Apple Watch chargers and features a tiny speaker for Find My tracking.
These retail for $179.99, but a less advanced model without active noise cancellation and a case without wireless charging capabilities is available for $129.
While Apple did not announce an upgrade to the AirPods Pro during this year’s product release, there’s a huge upgrade coming to existing pairs soon.
An upcoming software update will turn the AirPods Pro 2 into the world’s first all-in-one hearing health experience with hearing tests, active hearing protection, and a clinical-grade hearing aid feature that works in tandem with an iPhone or iPad.
