Sean “Diddy” Combs, the hip-hop tycoon, was arrested in New York City on Monday evening after a grand jury handed down an indictment, a person familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
Since last November, the 54-year-old Combs has been the subject of mounting allegations of abuse, sexual violence, and sex trafficking.
The charges in the indictment were not immediately clear, according to the Times.
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told TMZ in a statement that they were “disappointed” with “the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution” of the rapper.
“He is an imperfect person but is not criminal,” Agnifilo continued. “To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
