Not only did they lose the game, but they also lost to their Pro Bowl quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion, and their running back, Jeff Wilson Jr.
Wilson left Thursday’s game with an oblique injury and was ruled out from returning. Although he suffered the injury, the good news is that it is not significant. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Wilson’s injury is not significant as it is just an oblique issue.

Wilson’s oblique injury, which initially sparked concern during the game, is not considered to be severe. He experienced discomfort that led to an early exit from the game, which caused alarm about the potential severity of his injury.
Wilson was expected to see an expanded role for the team in Raheem Mostert’s absence, who was ruled out due to a chest injury. However, that was not the case, as he only recorded two catches for 12 yards with zero rushing attempts.
It’s unclear if the injury caused his limited workload; nonetheless, he has 10 days to recover until Miami’s Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
This is great news for Wilson and the Dolphins organization, as they are avoiding another serious health concern besides Tagovailoa.
The team will now rely on backup quarterback Skylar Thompson as they will do their best to add depth to that position. As for the running back position, Mostert is set to return for the Week 3 matchup, leaving more room for Wilson to recover.
Wilson was expected to play a significant role; instead, it was the De’Von Achane show. Achane was lights out in the loss, as he had 22 carries for 96 yards, seven receptions on seven targets for 69 yards, and one touchdown in the 31-10 loss.
Although Wilson didn’t get much run on Thursday, he is now more important to the Dolphins’ offensive scheme than ever, with the injuries to Mostert, Tagovailoa, and injury-prone Achane.
Since coming down to Miami, he has proved a dynamic presence in their backfield due to his agility. He is versatile, which fits perfectly with how head coach Mike McDaniel likes to run his offense.
The veteran running back is in his third season in Maimi and has 130 rush attempts for 606 yards, three rush touchdowns, and averages 4.7 yards per attempt and four total touchdowns.
