A bitter boyfriend allegedly lit the home of his girlfriend’s parents on fire — sending her running as flames engulfed the house, police said.
Leonard Jones, 50, allegedly ignited the blaze after fighting with his gal pal inside the Old Beekman Road house in South Brunswick at around 3 a.m. Tuesday, cops said.
Police were called to the Middlesex County home after Jones refused to leave, the South Brunswick Police Department said.
As cops were on their way to the scene, they received a second 911 call reporting the home on fire.
Four residents, including Jones, made it safely out of the house as the fire raged through the single-family home.
Neighbor Elise Campanella said one of the residents knocked on her door, warning her of the “insane” fire before smoke eaters arrived.
“It was quite extensive and my fear was that it was going to come from the trees and then fall on top of my house. It was insane,” she told News 12 New Jersey.
Jones was arrested outside the home and charged with aggravated arson and domestic violence.
