Telluride has launched some terrific movies this weekend — Edward Berger’s Conclave, Michael Gracey’s Better Man, Pablo Larrain’s Maria and Tim Fehlbaum’s September 5 among them — but it would be hard to find more palpable energy evident in a movie theater than that generated by Saturday Night tonight.
The Jason Reitman-directed dramatic look at the tense and often hilarious 90 minutes before the 1975 launch of the iconic NBC show Saturday Night Live just made its debut at the Colorado mountain fest.
Reitman was there along with producer Peter Rice and Sony exec Sanford Panitch and co-writer Gil Kenan, and he gave a most rousing intro, with an assist from Bill Murray, who joined SNL in its second season and became a mainstay.
