Filmed in April across four different UK cities, recordings of Dimension 20’s Time Quangle live shows are coming to the Dropout streaming service, starting Sept. 12. A new trailer for the four-episode series puts the emphasis lightly on the plot and firmly on the antics, but then, in Time Quangle, even the game’s setting and characters are kind of a spoiler.
Hosted by game master Brennan Lee Mulligan — with players Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson — each show in the Time Quangle tour used the spin of on-stage bingo machines to determine which of their previous Dimension 20 characters the cast would play, and which previous Dimension 20 setting they would adventure through, in an unpredictable crossover/reunion every night.
And as the core cast of Dimension 20 players, Beardsley, Axford et al. had a lot of characters and settings to choose from. Players rolled from a pool of characters from Fantasy High (high school students in a parodic D&D-style fantasy land), The Unsleeping City (the secret magical powers behind the city of New York), A Crown of Candy (the body count of Game of Thrones meets the edible environment of Candyland), A Starstruck Odyssey (a crew of absolute bozos in a gonzo capitalistic space adventure), and Neverafter (fairy tales plus existential horror).
The trailer confirms that Dropout will air the first two episodes of Time Quangle on Sept. 12 and 19, with the rest coming in December.
