As Kerry Washington emceed the final night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, she was joined a presidential guest.
The Emmy Award winner reunited onstage with her Scandal co-star Tony Goldwyn to create a viral moment in honor of Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, with the thousands of supporters in attendance.
“Just like Michelle Obama told us, let’s do something. Let’s make a video. Everybody take out your phones … we’re gonna make a moment,” said Washington. “Can somebody bring me my phone? I wanna capture this historic moment and share it with the people we love.”

The audience then erupted in cheers as Goldwyn ran out onto the stage with Washington’s phone in hand. She instructed everyone to take a video as they recited Harris’ slogan together. “When we fight,” the actors chanted, to which the crowd responded, “We win!”
“Are you ready for Kamala Harris to win?” added Washington to applause. “Good, because when Kamala wins, America wins. We did it! ‘We did it, Joe.’ Thank you, Tony.”
They then shared a cute exchange as Goldwyn asked if he should stay with her on stage. “No, you gotta go,” said Washington as he said bye to the audience. “Tony Goldwyn, ladies and gentlemen!”
Washington previously shared a selfie with Goldwyn from the DNC floor. “Giving the people what they want….” she wrote.
Goldwyn also shared a snap with Washington jokingly putting her finger in his nose, writing: “Serious business being done with @kerrywashington at #DNCChicago!!!”
Washington starred as crisis management expert Olivia Pope on the Shondaland series for its seven-season run on ABC from 2012 to 2018. Goldwyn played her client and love interest, President Fitzgerald Grant III. The show was partially inspired by former President George H.W. Bush’s administration press aide Judy Smith, who served on the series as a co-executive producer.
