Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, posted live reactions to Vice President Kamala Harris‘ Democratic nomination acceptance speech Thursday night on his Truth Social platform.
On the final night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Harris took the stage around 10:30 p.m. to accept the party’s official nomination, nearly a month after she entered the presidential race following President Joe Biden‘s exit on July 21.
Late Thursday evening prior to her speech, Trump posted on his Truth Social account, “I’m getting ready to be fair but critical of Comrade Kamala Harris. My Play by Play will be on TRUTH Social, starting SOON!”
As the vice president took the stage, Trump posted live updates on his Truth Social account, saying “too many ‘Thank yous,’ too rapidly said, what’s going on with her?” He then posted in all caps, “WHERE’S HUNTER?” adding a minute later that her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz “was an ASSISTANT Coach, not a COACH.”
Several minutes into her speech, Trump posted, “A lot of talk about childhood, we’ve got to get to the Border, Inflation, and Crime!” Harris spoke about her parents and her early legal aspirations in the beginning minutes of her speech.
In a post earlier today, he said, Harris “became the Nominee without receiving one Vote, stealing the Nomination from Crooked Joe Biden who earned it by getting 14 Million Votes.” Trump has posted several times on his Truth Social account, including three days ago on the first day of the DNC, that it’s “not fair” for Harris to be the Democratic nominee, saying it’s “perhaps even another form of election interference.”
Biden’s exit so close to the November election is unprecedented.
Richard Pildes, a constitutional law professor at New York University School of Law, previously told Newsweek in an email earlier in August, “There is absolutely nothing unconstitutional about the Democratic Party choosing the nominee it prefers through the vote of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), which is what happened here. President Biden withdrew, and the DNC then chose its nominee.”
This evening, Trump wrote about Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren on Truth Social, “Pocahontas is now speaking at the DNC. She used her fake Indian heritage to scam the system. Her mother told her she had “high cheekbones,” and therefore she was Indian, who would use this hoax on applications everywhere. It worked until she got caught. 10024th Indian, remember?”
Warren has faced intense scrutiny over her claims of being Native American for decades. She released a DNA test to prove her ancestry back in 2019, that indicated she has Native American ancestry dating back six to 10 generations. The move drew more criticism and Warren later apologized to the Cherokee Nation.
On Thursday evening, the Massachusetts senator spoke in support of Harris’ campaign, saying, “Kamala was protecting families, and Donald was scamming students at Trump University and trying to make money off people losing their homes,” adding, “That is the difference between a criminal and prosecutor.”
