Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager have been getting back into the swing of things since Today With Hoda & Jenna took a hiatus during the 2024 Paris Olympics earlier this month. This week, the show has been looking back on some of their best moments this year with previously recorded episodes highlighting their most memorable interviews.
During Wednesday’s broadcast, however, fans may have been disappointed to see that Kotb wasn’t on the Today stage with Bush Hager, who was instead joined by Today correspondent Donna Farizan for a pre-recorded, fashion-related episode that featured their recent interview with celebrity stylist Law Roach.
Bush Hager was excited to talk fashion with Farizan. But in typical Jenna fashion, she quickly shut down the concept of designer “pee-stained” jeans.
“All I have to tell y’all, all I have to do is sit with Hoda for a few minutes in jeans and get laughing and then I get that for free,” she joked.

Why isn’t Hoda Kotb on Today With Hoda & Jenna?
Bush Hager noted at the top of Wednesday’s broadcast that Kotb was “off” the day that they recorded the episode, though she didn’t specify why.
But according to Kotb’s social media, the Today host recently enjoyed a quick island vacation to celebrate her 60th birthday with friends, which may have coincided with Today With Hoda & Jenna. She shared a post on Aug. 19 that said she had a “great time” with “great friends.”
Kotb was on the first hour of The Today Show Wednesday to interview Jessica Alba about her new show, Honest Renovations. She will likely return to Today With Hoda & Jenna once it gets back to its regular live broadcasts. Decider reached out to NBC for further information.
As Today With Hoda & Jenna continues looking back on some of their best moments from the show this week, it’s likely that the rest of the week will also feature pre-recorded episodes.
