Recent Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce is attached to star in Loose Cannons, an action comedy in development at Lionsgate, sources have confirmed to Deadline.
Lionsgate declined comment.
Details as to the plot of the film are under wraps, and it’s expected that it’ll be some time before filming, as the new NFL season is just weeks away. Script is from Tim Dowling (Pixels). The John Wick franchise’s Chad Stahelski will produce for 87Eleven Entertainment, along with Jason Spitz and Alex Young.
Famous as much for his relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift as he is for his work as tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce would with Loose Cannons be making his feature film debut. In the early days of his Hollywood career, he’s thus far only committed to star in Grostesquerie, the new horror drama from Ryan Murphy, which premieres on FX on Wednesday, September 25. Revolving around a series of heinous crimes that have unsettled a small community, the show centers on Detective Lois Tryon (Niecy Nash-Betts), who feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone — or something — is taunting her. Lesley Manville and Courtney B. Vance also star, and Kelce’s role has been kept under wraps thus far.
The host of Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, Kelce also recently exec produced the dark comedy My Dead Friend Zoe, which premiered at SXSW and will be released by Briarcliff Entertainment on November 1st.

Previously, Dowling has penned Pixels, starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James, as well as such films as This Means War, Knight and Day, Role Models and Just Go With It.
News of Kelce’s attachment to Loose Cannons was first reported by Jeff Sneider of The InSneider.
