The Masked Singer Season 12 will pay homage to Barbie and Footloose and unleash a “Party in the U.S.A.” with a Miley Cyrus-themed night.
Ahead of the season premiere on Wednesday, September 25, Fox has revealed that it is planning to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Mattel doll during a special themed night. The show will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of 1984’s Footloose, which starred Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer.
After recently being crowned a Disney Legend, Cyrus’ career will continue to be celebrated on a special Masked Singer night dedicated to her music catalog.
The Masked Singer stage will also see the return of tentpole themes such as “Soundtrack of My Life” and “Thanksgiving Night,” with other all-new themes including “Sports Night,” “60’s Night” and a first-of-its-kind “Who Are You Fest,” featuring music from memorable festival lineups. The themes will be woven throughout the performers’ song selections, costumes, special celebrity guests, set design…and may even provide clues as to WHO is under the mask!
Viewers at home will have even more clues to uncover who the celebrity behind the mask is, with hints strategically embedded in costumes, song choices, and on-stage moments.
Every masked singer will be endorsed by Masked Ambassadors, former contestants of the competition series, including Dick Van Dyke (Season 9’s GNOME), Jewel (QUEEN OF HEARTS and Season 6 winner), NE-YO (COW and Season 10 winner) and DeMarcus Ware (Season 11’s KOALA).
Nick Cannon hosts The Masked Singer, which features panelists Ken Jeong, Rita Ora, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg in their quest to uncover who is the celebrity behind the mask.
