Following the success of its first two seasons, Peacock has renewed The Traitors for two additional seasons.
Filming for the third season of the reality competition series recently wrapped in the Scottish Highlands, the streamer has picked it up for seasons four and five.
The Alan Cumming-hosted show is nominated for four Emmys for Season 2, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program, Outstanding Directing for a Reality Series, and Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Series. Cumming was also nominated for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.
The Traitors is a competition series where contestants, known as the faithful, work together on missions to win a prize of up to $250,000 while trying to uncover the secret players working against them to try and banish them from the game.
During Deadline’s Contender TV: The Nominees, Cumming told us why he loves the show, saying, “I love being at the castle. I love everybody there. It’s such a fun thing to do. What was great the second time around is we’re back all in the swing of it a bit more. And everyone was a bit more confident because we’d done one already, and the show had been a success. And now we really kind of hit our stride.”
The Traitors Season 2 became the number one unscripted series in the U.S. across all streaming platforms during launch week, according to Nielsen. Season 1 of The Traitors took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program.
Season 3 will continue with the formula casting all reality stars and celebrities, including Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser, Bob the Drag Queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Chanel Ayan from The Real Housewives of Dubai, Chrishell Stause from Selling Sunset, Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York City, Gabby Windey fro The Bachelorette, and Tom Sandoval from Vanderpump Rules, among many more.
