At D23, Disney unveiled the mischievous alien in its live-action remake of animated hit Lilo & Stitch. The CGI-generated Sitch literally burst through the screen to reveal that the movie will premiere in simmer 2025. (You can see it below.)
No exact date was announced; the studio currently has two summer dates next year on hold, May 23 and Aug. 8.
Besides the Stitch first look, no footage of the humans in Lilo & Stitch was shared. Newcomer Maia Kealoha is set to play Lilo in the live-action version of the Hawaii-set 2002 animated pic, originally developed for Disney+ before shifting to a theatrical release.
Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) idirects the film, which also stars Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen. It follows the relationship between a lonely girl named Lilo and Stitch, an alien engineered to be a force of destruction.

Chris Kekaniokalani Bright scripted the new film, from a previous draft by Mike Van Waes. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce for Rideback, with Ryan Halprin exec producing for the company.
