Eight people are hospitalized following a mass stabbing in Southport, England, near a Taylor Swift event for kids, according to the BBC.
The Southport stabbing took place near a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the seaside town, which is just north of Liverpool. Swift has not yet commented on the stabbing.
According to reports, the themed Taylor Swift event was advertised for kids ages 6 to 11. Children are believed to be among the eight victims who were hospitalized for stab injuries.
Police were called to a property just before noon on Monday, July 29, according to a statement from the Merseyside Police Department. “Armed police have detained a male and seized a knife,” police said in the statement. “He has been taken to a police station.”
The North West Ambulance Service, which dispatched 13 emergency response vehicles to the scene, according to their post on X, did not disclose the identities or ages of the eight victims, but noted that at least one victim was transported to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
