As someone who’s gone head to head with Heather Dubrow before, Gina Kirschenheiter didn’t think it was the best idea for newbie Katie Ginella to strike up some drama with the longtime reality star on this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
“I mean, Dubrow is formidable,” Kirschenheiter joked in a recent interview with DECIDER. “You know when you’re in trouble with Dubrow and it is not fun to be on the receiving end of a Dubrow spanking. And I have had several.”
In the most recent episode of RHOC, Ginella revealed to Kirschenheiter and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Sutton Stracke that Dubrow rubbed her the wrong way.
According to Ginella, they first met at Stracke’s Christmas party — and while Dubrow presumably knew of her through Kirschenheiter, Ginella claimed that she was blatantly ignored by Fancy Pants when they were introduced. And as if that wasn’t enough to turn her off, she also accused Dubrow of shadily tagging her in a photo she wasn’t even in shortly after she clicked the follow button on Instagram.
Upon hearing Ginella’s recollection of events, Stracke advised her against going up against Dubrow, joking that she would probably “hide under the table.”
When we caught up with Kirschenheiter, she dished on whether Dubrow is truly as scary as Stracke made her out to be.
“I mean, Heather is not like a scary person, but she is a strong woman and when she feels attacked, she will let you know that that’s not OK. She’s not afraid to tell you what time it is,” she said, noting that it probably wasn’t “the best tact” for Ginella to go after Dubrow.
“But, you know, there’s a learning curve here,” she added.
Kirschenheiter, for her part, has been there, done that. Last season, Dubrow accused the budding real estate agent of not being as available as a friend, while Kirschenheiter became frustrated with Dubrow for advising her to stop talking about her ex-husband with her current boyfriend Travis Mullen.
While Kirschenheiter confirmed that they do, in fact, hit another rough patch in their friendship this season, she assured us that they are still the same ol’ pals who bonded by loading up on carbs in the streets of New York City back in Season 16.
“I love Heather, I really do and you do see us get into it and scrap through this season, last season, the season before,” she said. “But at our core and our root, we do have a good, solid friendship and we care about each other.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs every Thursday at 9/8c on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
