We’re getting the first look and premiere date for Mr. Throwback, Peacock‘s upcoming mockumentary comedy headlined by NBA star Steph Curry and Happy Endings alum Adam Pally.
The six-episode series from Happy Endings creator David Caspe and writing duo Matthew Libman and Daniel Libman will premiere August 8 on the streamer. Check out the trailer above.
In Mr. Throwback, a down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer (Pally) looks for redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, NBA great Steph Curry.
“I was excited to step into the world of scripted comedy with Mr. Throwback, a story with love for family and friends at its center,” said Curry, who also executive produces, in a statement. “I’m looking forward to viewers getting to see me play a version of myself no one has ever seen before and hope they feel connected to the characters and the dilemmas they face throughout the series.”
He added, “I am honored to have joined Adam, Ego, Ayden and the producing team of David Caspe, Matthew Libman, Daniel Libman and David Wain to create this series along with Erick Peyton steering the ship at Unanimous Media.”
Ego Nwodim and Adyen Mayeri also star in Mr. Throwback. Tracy Letts, Layla Scalisi, Tien Tran and Rich Sommer recur.
Caspe writes and exec produces with the Libmans as well as Pally, Curry and Unanimous’ Erick Peyton. David Wain also exec produces and directs.
Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces in association with Curry’s Unanimous Media. The project is the first to emerge after Curry and his Unanimous Media struck a global talent partnership with NBCUniversal in 2021, which includes first-look development deals with Universal Studio Group for scripted and unscripted television projects and DreamWorks Animation for kids and family content.
