Meghan Markle has been seen leaving her regular Montecito restaurant in California with Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who starred in the 1990s rom-com Father of the Bride.
The Duchess of Sussex was photographed leaving Italian restaurant Tre Lune in light blue jeans, a white Anine Bing shirt and a Dior Lady D-Lite handbag, according to the U.K. newspaper Daily Mail, which published the images.
Alongside Meghan was Williams-Paisley, who shot to fame in the 1991 movie when she starred as the bride alongside Steve Martin, who played her father.
It is not clear whether it was a purely social visit or whether the pair have plans to work together, but U.K. newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported in February 2023 that the Sussexes had their eyes on producing a romantic comedy.
The couple are also planning an adaptation of Meet Me at the Lake, a romance novel by Carley Fortune, for Netflix.
It is equally possible, though, that Meghan and Williams-Paisley are simply two friends who were catching up over Italian food nearby the royal’s Montecito mansion.
Meghan has been spotted eating at Tre Lune before, including days before her birthday in August 2023.
This is not the first time either that Meghan has been spotted out with a celebrity friend in Montecito; the duchess and Harry had a double-date night with Paramount executive Brian Robbins and his wife, Tracy, at upmarket steakhouse Lucky’s in May 2024.
And in May 2023, Harry and Meghan were seen leaving Sushi Bar, in Montecito, where they had dined alongside Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow, though it is not clear whether they were on the same or different tables.
Harry and Meghan also had dinner in Santa Barbara with his cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, in February 2022.
The Sussexes’ first few years in America were dominated by bombshell interviews in which they took swipes at the royal family and the palace.
However, since Harry’s book Spare came out in January 2023, Harry and Meghan appear to have left the era of open warfare with the prince’s family behind them.
Upcoming projects appear to strike a more positive tone, including a documentary Harry is making about polo and Meghan’s lifestyle show, both for Netflix.
The duchess also has a lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and has been distributing sample pots of jam to celebrity friends.
