EXCLUSIVE: Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor will narrate PeaKeeBoo, an animated series from UK creative studio Toikido and kids entertainment firm Cake.
Set in the trees of the Flower Meadow Wood, PeaKeeBoo will follow Pea, Kee and Boo, three friends who love hide-and-seek and the sounds and visuals of nature. Ellis-Bextor, the British known for chart hits ‘Murder on the Dancefloor,’ ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’ and ‘Take Me Home,’ will narrate.
The series is based on upcoming YouTube shorts, with the PeaKeeBoo universe expanding into five-minute episodes. Toikido and Cake will develop and co-produce the “enchanting” show, which is based on the childhood game of peekaboo and encourages themes of exploration, creativity and playful learning. In December, it was announced that Moonbug Entertainment had teamed with Toikido on the project and would roll out the YouTube episodes on its channels.
UK toy manufacturer Golden Bear Toys has been appointed as master toy licensee for the series, and will launch a range of plush figurines and activity sets in fall and winter 2025.
Ed Galton, CEO of Cake, said: “Toikido’s innovative approach to brand building combined with our storytelling and distribution expertise promises to deliver an extraordinary series that will resonate with children and parents alike.”
“Cake’s track record in producing high-quality children’s content is unparalleled, and we are confident that together we will bring the magical world of PeaKeeBoo to life, captivating young audiences globally,” added Darran Garnham, CEO of Toikido, which launched in 2020.
Toikido is known for Piñata Smashlings brand, which is also being developed as a animated kids series.
