Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC are known for their tough-as-nails bosses. Luckily, one crafty developer found a fun and rewarding way to make use of those baddies.
A mod published on NexusMods allows players to summon bosses they’ve defeated onto the battlefield as allies. In other words, it’s time to send out the demigod Messmer as your personal Pokémon to beat up other bosses.
NexusMods user FlippantTunic22 created the mod, and it’s now available for anyone to download. You can view the full list on the site, but it includes 11 bosses from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. A few highlights include the ability to summon Messmer the Impaler, the Golden Hippopotamus, and the Divine Beast Dancing Lion.
YouTuber KanesGrace shared a video showing the summons in action. In the video, the creator attempts to beat every boss by using other bosses as a summon. Although KanesGrace has to suffer a gnarly battle against the Dancing Lion, the journey becomes easier afterward — once obtaining the Dancing Lion as a summon, that boss can one-hit some of the other bosses. Other challenges, like one in which KanesGrace summons Messmer against the Putrescent Knight, are more evenly matched thanks to the summoned boss’ stats.
The result is hilarious, and it honestly reminds me of watching an overpowered creature defeat a boss handily in Palworld. So if you want to take the Pokémon approach to Elden Ring, you can download the mod now.
