A woman’s plea for a “laid back mom friend” has invited mothers from all over the internet to volunteer their services.
Annalee Grace sang a rendition of the viral “I’m Looking for a Man in Finance” song, originally posted by @girl_on_couch, in her Instagram video at @annalee15. She requested a laidback mom friend who won’t judge, will go on playdates and doesn’t get mad when she forgets to text them back in the middle of the chaos of parenting.
Grace captioned the reel: “Bonus points if you like caffeine a little bit too much and your kids are just a wee bit feral.”
The post received an overwhelming response on Instagram, and thousands of comments poured in from other moms to say they were available to fill the role.
One posted: “If by laid back you mean high anxiety, exhausted, burned out, stressed to the max, always hungry and cries sometimes.”
Another said that they met the criteria and requested to meet for a coffee in a local park.
The video also struck a chord with many parents who understand the juggling act of parenting, personal time and social interactions.
One mom suggested there should be an app for “moms like us” and that she needs friends “with the same brain waves and little maintenance.”
Meanwhile, another added: “I’m here. Sorry I was late – my toddler was attempting to high dive off the couch and my baby bump is starting to slow down my rescue mission.”
One comment read: “We exist! Where do we sign up? It might take me 5 to 7 business days to remember to fill it though.”
Grace hosts the Along With the Waves podcast, which is a “reminder to moms all around the world that we’re riding the waves together.” In it, she shares her candid take on topics such as postpartum anxiety and being a mom in your 30s.
Research on the realities of motherhood and loneliness found that many experience feelings of isolation during this time.
The State of Motherhood survey by motherly, a well-being brand for mothers, found that nearly 6,000 moms felt disconnected, despite their parenting responsibilities.
Grace’s playful rendition captures the essence of what many moms seek in a friendship: understanding, patience and zero judgment.
One mom commented on the video that their toddler is also “feral” and “non-judgy mom friends” are what she needs.
