Supporters of Joe Biden and Donald Trump planned to hold watch parties across the country for CNN’s presidential debate, seizing on the event to energize their bases.
In Los Angeles, three Democratic governors — Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Andy Beshear of Kentucky and JB Pritzker of Illinois — were gathering at the home of James Costos and Michael Smith for a fundraiser and watch party. Co-hosts of the event are Martha Karsh and Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, with proceedings going to the Biden Victory Fund, per an invite.
Vice President Kamala Harris will be headlining another fundraiser on Saturday, a Pride garden party featuring a performance by Idina Menzel. Co-hosts include the Reiners, Chad Griffin and Charlie Joughin, Costos and Smith, Dustin Lance Black, Ted and Helen Boutrous, John and Mike August, Kevin Huvane, Lyn Davis Lear, Mary Fisher, Adam Shankman, Max Mutchnick and Erik Hyman, Yeardley Smith, Adam Umhoefer, Donna and Michael Weinholtz, Vanessa Benavides and Sheila Bryant, and the Human Rights Campaign PAC.
After tonight’s debate, Trump and Biden each plan to address supporters at watch parties in Atlanta, according to NewsNation.
