Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to see action, and he is not talking about the movies. Schwarzenegger was talking about climate change and said it is time for the talking stop and for there to be concrete solutions.
“All we care about is action,” Schwarzenegger said at the latest edition of the Austrian World Summit, the event he launched eight years ago. “Talking alone won’t save us – but action will. We all share the same vision of a pollution-free world. We have to do whatever it takes to stop the bleeding in order to save our children, to save our planet, to save our future.”
The summit ran under the banner “Be Useful: Tools For a Healthy Planet” and was held at Vienna’s Hofburg, the official residence of the President of Austria. The aim was to find concrete solutions to fight climate change and Schwarzenegger told attendees: “You have the power.”
Schwarzenegger, a former Governor of Caliornia, founded the Austria-based international summit in 2017. He hosted the event and his speech opened proceedings.
Austrian President Alexander Van Der Bellen, Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres, and Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, Maroš Šefčovič, all attended.
Representatives from different industries and sectors took part. The film and TV business is increasingly engaged in terms of climate change, specifically with regards to reducing the footprint of productions and also storytelling, across factual and fiction. Klemens Hallmann presented his Kate Winslet-narrated documentary DreamScapes, which is endorsed by the WWF.
He spoke about how film production can address the challenges of climate change during what he described as a state of emergency. Klemans also talked about taking a different narrative tack with DreamScapes, which is produced under the Hallmann Entertainment Company banner: “We consciously wanted to choose a new approach. Our goal was to show the beauty of our earth with all its diversity. We want to make viewers aware of what needs to be protected.”
