EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios has closed a multiyear overall writing deal with Oscar-nominated American Sniper screenwriter Jason Hall.
Under the pact, Hall will write projects for the studio, which will also have a first look on all original ideas he conceives.
Hall most recently wrote and executive produced Gran Turismo for Columbia Pictures which grossed over $122M at the worldwide box office. Prior to that, he wrote and directed Thank You for Your Service for Universal Pictures and wrote and executive produced Warner Bros.’ American Sniper, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay. That movie, directed by Clint Eastwood, wound up becoming the highest grossing film in the director/star’s near 70 years working career with over $547M worldwide. Hall also received the WGA Adapted Screenplay nomination for American Sniper. That movie was based on the life of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
Prior to his screenwriting career, Hall worked as an actor on such shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The District, Without a Trace and CSI: Miami.
