EXCLUSIVE: Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean) has joined the cast of Mission, the latest feature from Scottish filmmaker Paul Wright (For Those In Peril).
McEwen joins George MacKay (Femme) in the pic, which is described as a “punk exploration” of the alienated Dylan (MacKay) whom we meet as he throws off the shackles of his solitary life in an attempt to experience the highs and lows of existence at its most extreme. Estranged from his sister Claire (McEwen), he embarks on a thrilling journey of self-discovery that proves both inspiring and terrifying. The pic will be shot in Glasgow, Scotland.
Mission is produced by Kate Byers and Linn Waite (Early Day Films), Alex Thiele (65 Wilding Films), Marie-Elena Dyche (Meraki Films), and Lowri Roberts (Rapt), with Maisie Williams (Rapt) serving as an associate producer. Executive producers are Kristin Irving (BBC Film), Kieran Hannigan (Screen Scotland), and Kiah Simpson (Ffilm Cymru Wales).
Backed by BBC Film, Screen Scotland, and Ffilm Cymru Wales with funding from the National Lottery, Mission is a co-production between Early Day Films (Bait) and 65 Wilding Films (Baltimore) that was developed with Screen Scotland and BBC Film. Blue Finch Films is handling worldwide sales on the project.
McEwen is best known for her breakout role in Georgia Oakley’s indie favorite Blue Jean. She landed the BIFA for best leading performance for her role in the pic. She can next be seen alongside Caleb Landry-Jones in Athina Rachel Tsangari’s Harvest and Dev Patel in Rabbit Trap. She is repped by Curtis Brown Group, CAA, Public Eye Communications, and Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher LLP.
