House Republican Lauren Boebert, Newsmax host Jenn Pellegrino and Ginger Gaetz, wife of Representative Matt Gaetz, are scheduled to appear as “special guests” at the Washington D.C. Young Republicans‘ “Hot Girl Summer women’s happy hour” on June 26.
The event is scheduled to take place at Takoda Navy Yard Rooftop, a bar on 1299 1st Street SE, with guests asked to arrive at 6 p.m. ET.
Boebert, who represents Colorado’s third congressional district in the House, is fighting to be selected as her party’s candidate for the state’s more-conservative fourth congressional district in November. A recent Kaplan Strategies poll found her to be the clear frontrunner in the six-way GOP primary race with 40 percent support, and no other candidate scoring in double digits.
The Washington D.C. Young Republicans published a pink promotional graphic for the event on X, formerly Twitter. It featured headshots of the three guests, along with outlines of women in bikinis and palm trees. Since Friday, it has received more than 103,000 views from other platform users. An attached RSPV form warns “space is limited” and asked anyone interested in attending to reply by June 25.
Of the other special guests, Pellegrino works as an anchor for conservative-leaning network Newsmax and was previously White House correspondent for the One America News Network, which is also associated with the political right.
On Friday, Pellegrino celebrated presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump‘s 78th birthday by posting on X an old photo of herself asking him a question at a White House press event. She added: “Throwback to the days when we had a President who took questions from EVERYONE in the briefing room! Happy birthday, President Donald Trump!”
Ginger Gaetz describes herself as an “AI innovator” on X and has over 69,000 followers there. She married Matt Gaetz, the Florida representative and staunch Trump advocate, in 2021.
Newsweek contacted the Washington D.C. Young Republicans and Rep. Lauren Boebert for comment, via media inquiry form and email respectively, outside of usual office hours on Saturday.
The Republican primary for Colorado’s 4th congressional district is due to take place on June 25, with a Kaplan Strategies poll of 343 registered likely voters giving her a favorability rating of 47 percent.
Speaking to Newsweek, Douglas County Republican Party chair Steve Peck welcomed the result: “Kaplan’s recent polling confirms what many of us in the community know: that Lauren Boebert has extensive name recognition, and resonates with many voters based on her tenacity and fearlessness to not only champion Republican causes and principles, but repel the encroachment of Democrat policies.”
Boebert was hit by controversy in September 2023 when she was asked to leave a performance of the musical Beetlejuice after refusing to stop vaping and taking photographs. Video footage later emerged that appeared to show Boebert and a male companion groping each other at the show. The congresswoman initially denied any wrongdoing but later apologized for her actions.
Earlier this month, Boebert was greeted with music from Beetlejuice when she arrived for an interview with Denver, Colorado, radio station KOA.
