Pet parents don’t shy away from spoiling with treats, special toys, or lavish bedrooms. But one cat mom’s above-and-beyond gesture for her feline has left viewers speechless.
Kaitlynn Stone showed off her cat’s bathroom in comparison to hers. The clip, shared to her TikTok account @kaitlynn_stone is a night and day difference as the cat’s bathroom is decorated with photos on the wall and a spa-like shower, except the shower isn’t for bathing this feline. Instead, Stone transformed it into a sanctuary for her cat to conduct her business.
Behind the curtain, you’ll find plants and shelves lined with cat-grooming products. The cat’s litter box is on the shower floor and beneath it, a decorative carpet to give it a homey feel. Her bathroom, however, lacked the interior touch people dream about. It’s clear her cat is running the house.
The caption reads: “Scooping litter is like raking a zen garden.”
“I am renting a 2bed/2bath and the spare bathroom shower wasn’t being used, so I decided to give Kikko her own private sanctuary to do her business,” Stone told Newsweek via TikTok. “Having it in the shower makes it super easy to clean. Plus all the kicked up litter stays contained!”
She received suggestions about the type of litter box to use and is waiting for a new open-top, stainless steel one to arrive. Stainless steel litter boxes have been gaining in popularity.
Tuft and Paw, a company producing cat products, posted an article about the pros and cons of stainless steel litter boxes after speaking with a veterinarian and a cat behaviorist, using online reviews and taking their own experience into account. These litterboxes are durable, easy to clean and do not absorb odor, however, it is also heavy and expensive.
‘A Need Not a Want’
The TikTok video reached 885,500 views, 106,500 likes, and 400 comments as of Friday. People are obsessing over the idea, wanting to make their spare bathroom a cat-only room.
“I was attempting to justify a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment and this just did it for me,” said a viewer.
Another wrote: “This is a need not a want.”
A third person commented: “Saving this so I can put even more of my paycheck towards my cats’ livelihood.” Spoken like a true pet parent.
Stone assured viewers it was the best decision. She wrote in the comment section: “No regrets! Guests can go outside.”
