The Boys has set a high bar for sex and violence in television, yet the Amazon Prime series continues to up the ante with each new episode. And Season 4 Episode 2, titled “Life Among the Septics,” is no different.
The episode shows Butcher, Mother’s Milk, and the Boys tailing Sister Sage, the newest addition to The Seven, to a conspiracy theorist convention called #TruthCon. There, we meet Firecracker, a right-wing podcaster and supe whose limited powers are buoyed by her extreme personality.
But the episode also introduces us to a Firecracker fanboy named Splinter who has the ability to clone himself. Rob Benedict stars as the new superhero, and though his guest spot on The Boys is short-lived, it’s certainly a memorable one. At #TruthCon, Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) follow Splinter to see what nasty business he’s getting up to after he sneaks off during Firecracker’s speech. But nothing could possibly prepare any Boys viewer for what they find him doing.
Frenchie and Kimiko find Splinter having a Human Centipede-inspired orgy in a sauna with several naked clones while staring at a picture of Firecracker. The graphic scene is underscored by a chorus of grunts, moans, and slurping sounds that really drive it home, even though Splinter tries to tell Frenchie and Kimiko, “This isn’t what it looks like!”
Of course, the Human Centipede moment backfires on Splinter horribly later on when his clones develop a nasty case of pink eye ahead of their big fight.
The graphic scene left fans seriously scarred, according to reactions on social media.

“Wasn’t expecting the 8 man ass eating human centipede scene in the boys,” one fan wrote, while another commented that they “can’t unsee it.”
Others were not so shocked, as one fan wrote that it “will never have the shock value” as the Season 3 scene where a size-shifting supe killed a man after he climbed into his urethra and suddenly sneezed, causing the man to explode.
“How am i supposed to look rob benedict in the eye when ive just seen 8 of him eating out his own ass,” another fan asked.
“THE THINGS I JUST SAW ROB BENEDICT DO ON THE BOYS ????????????????????” one fan demanded.
Benedict, who viewers may recognize from Supernatural and Waiting, shared a statement on X after seeing some of the initial reactions to the scene. “Already seeing some early reactions to #Splinter! Told ya! Canât wait to share of the behind the scenes stories. Needless to say – there were a lot of acting âfirstsâ. Shout out to @therealKripke #karengaviola #jessicachou and the entire stunt and EFX team. Whata ride,” he wrote.
Benedict’s partner, actress Ruth Connell, praised his performance and commitment to the role, writing that she “couldnât be prouder of @RobBenedict and his utter commitment to his roles.”
“No I havenât seen it but I lived through it!” she wrote.
Hilariously enough, the streamer even includes a disclaimer that reads, “Actor Rob Benedict wants us to remind everyone that he studied Shakespeare at Northwestern University. There is no contractual obligation for us to carry out this request. This is merely a kind gesture.” Just another day in Hollywood!
This scene appears to have scarred several fans of the series, which means Benedict certainly left his mark on the show, one way or another.
The first three episodes of The Boys Season 4 are now streaming on Amazon Prime video with new episodes dropping every Thursday.
