EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Lewis, Parvinder Shergill and Kayleigh-Paige Rees are leading comedy-drama Touché, a UK indie feature set in the world of fencing.
The film is shooting this summer in London as a co-production between Shergill’s Pinder Productions and Rees’ Raspberry Films, and will follow themes of diversity in fencing and female empowerment.
Plot follows Deep (Shergill), a struggling British South Asian woman who decides to turn her life around by learning how to fence. Rees plays Kate, a fencing champion in the fencing club unable to accept the newcomer, and Lewis is Tom, who strikes an unexpected friendship with Deep and is hiding a family secret.
The production is being supported by Julianna Revesz from Knightsbridge Fencing Club, who is the fencing consultant.
Lewis is best known for his role as Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter movies, and was most recently cast in Romesh Ranganathan’s BBC Comedy Avoidance alongside Aisling Bea. He has also had roles in British dramas Happy Valley and All Creatures Great and Small and starred in Rose Matafeo-starring comedy Baby Done.
Shergill wrote, produced and starred in ITVX short Kaur and has appeared in Coronation Street, while Rees has been working on producing a Russia-Ukraine War doc titled We Are Home, which has Stephen Fry narrating. She’s known for her role I ITV and PBS drama Sanditon and also produced and starred in UK indie comedy series Keep Calm & Carry On, which was picked up by Prime Video.
Shergill is with Identity Agency Group, Rees is represented by BBA Management and Lewis is with Curtis Brown and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
