Taylor Swift is lending her support to Lady Gaga.
After being photographed at her sister’s wedding last weekend in Maine, Lady Gaga confirmed she is not pregnant in several social media posts on Tuesday, while urging followers to make sure they’re registered to vote and throwing in a lyric from Swift for good measure.
“not pregnant – just down bad cryin at the gym. register to vote at www.headcount.org,” Gaga wrote in a text overlay on one video.
Soon after, Swift commented on Gaga’s TikTok, writing “Can we all agree that it’s invasive & irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body. Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman.” She sealed the pointed comment with an emoji kiss.
Swift, who has been in the public eye for close to two decades, has also faced her share of criticism and speculation about her body, and has, like Gaga, used her platform to encourage people to vote. In the 2020 documentary Miss Americana, Swift opened up about struggling with her body image and an eating disorder, saying that there have been times she’s seen “a picture of me where I feel like I looked like my tummy was too big, or… someone said that I looked pregnant … and that’ll just trigger me to just starve a little bit—just stop eating.”
A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment.
