Ana Navarro was spitting mad on this morning’s episode of The View after hearing Sen. Marco Rubio compare Donald Trump‘s guilty verdict to the oppression many Cubans faced under Fidel Castro’s rule.
While discussing Trump’s reaction to being found guilty of 34 felony counts last week, Navarro mentioned Rubio’s reaction, blasting him as one of the one-term POTUS’ “emotional support senators.”
“They have been outdoing themselves as to who kisses his ass more, who can kiss the ring. They’re trying to audition to be vice president,” Navarro began, before playing a clip of Rubio’s remarks, which he delivered on Hannity last Thursday (May 30).
On the show, Rubio compared Trump’s verdict to Cuba’s “show trials,” which resulted in the deaths of Cubans under communist rule.
“This is what you see in communist countries,” Rubio said, adding, “this … is an effort to interfere in an election.”
After the clip concluded, Whoopi Goldberg could be heard exclaiming, “Oh my god,” but Navarro was ready to absolutely annihilate Rubio before Goldberg could utter more.
Furious, she practically spat out, “How dare you, Marco, how dare you? 5,600 cubans at least were shot in front of firing squads. Another 1,200 were shot and died because of extrajudicial hearings. How dare you use their name in vain so that you can suck up to this man?
“I know you want to be his vice president,” she continued. “But don’t you dare use the name of these people who died protecting freedom and compare our U.S. judicial system to what happens in Cuba, what happens in Nicaragua, what happens in Venezuela.”
Navarro isn’t the only one angered by Rubio’s words. Since his interview last week, he has been lambasted by the Florida Democratic Party, who said his comparison was “an insult to democracy and the legitimate institutions in our nation,” noting, “It is also offensive to the Cuban American community,” per FloridaPolitics.com.
Rubio was also slammed by the Miami Herald‘s editorial board, which accused the senator of “diminishing the suffering of Cuban prisoners.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
