When Kate Middleton announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer in an emotional video in March, people across the world wished her well on their social media accounts and in TV spots. That support also translated to the Royal Mail, and according to the Daily Mail, the princess received “tens of thousands” of cards and letters expressing support amid her cancer treatment.
The newspaper added that the correspondence team at the palace has been “so touched” by the support as it continues to be received at the palace. “The sheer volume of correspondence has at times been difficult for the team to cope with,” the Mail added. “But staff do aim to reply to all the writers, eventually.”
This week, sources close to Kate told Vanity Fair that she has “turned the corner” in her cancer treatment. “It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” said a family friend. “It has, of course, been a very challenging and worrying time.”
Kate has been out of the public eye since she attended Christmas services with the rest of the royal family late last year, but according to People, she has been spotted recently running errands alone and with her family.
The princess is not the only royal to receive a flood of mail from well-wishers. In the weeks after King Charles III announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer, he appeared on the palace social media feeds reading a selection of the mail that had been sent to him offering sympathy and advice.
