Adele hopes to have another baby just as soon as her schedule clears up, she told concertgoers over the weekend in Las Vegas.
“Once I am done with all my obligations and all of my shows, I want to have a baby,” the Grammy winner told the audience Friday night during her Caesar’s Palace residency, according to the Daily Mail.
The singer had plenty to say about her future plans at the show, which marked her return to the stage after having to take five weeks of vocal rest to avoid permanent injury to her vocal cords, forcing her to reschedule a number of her planned performances. Adele shares 11-year-old son Angelo with ex-husband Simon Konecki, but is apparently hoping to grow her family with her new husband, Rich Paul, with whom she secretly tied the knot sometime late last year.
“I want a girl because I’ve already got a boy,” the singer elaborated. “I feel like she might be like the person I love the most in the world, but also probably hate the most in the world—that is what I feel will happen.”
She fondly imagined future clashes with the hypothetical “bossy little queen.”
“She’s going to put me in my place all the time, isn’t she?” she mused.
In her long-running residency, Adele typically offers plenty of unscripted banter, and has said in the past that she wants her elaborate “Weekends with Adele” stage show to feel like just that: A weekend hang that just so happens to be between an adoring, sold-out audience and an internationally celebrated vocalist. Also included: Pyrotechnics and a full orchestra, the usual chill hang accompaniments.
She told the crowd that not singing for five weeks had been “easy,” but that the rest of vocal rest was more challenging.
“Can you imagine me of all people not being able to talk for five weeks?” she said. “You end up just sort of hating people and just sort of sitting on your own in your room a lot.”
She urged fans to help her stay healthy, telling them to keep their germs to themselves.
“If any of you have germs or you are sick, do not touch me when I walk through,” she said of the portion of the show where she interacts with the audience, who often hand her gifts and dole out hugs. “I keep getting sick, it’s terrible, and that is what the issue is—getting carried away with these shows hugging people . . . tears and snot.”
A representative for Adele did not immediately respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment.
