Fox‘s nascent sales house has struck its first third-party distribution agreement for a TV series, taking rights to Australian docu-soap Billion Dollar Playground.
Fox Entertainment Global (FEG) will sell tape and format around the world to the show that is scheduled to launch on Foxtel’s streamer Binge over the summer alongside returning series Selling Houses Australia.
Produced by Ronde Media and revealed at MIPCOM Cannes, Billion Dollar Playground is set in the world of opulent homestays through the eyes of a global staff that works for Luxico, Australia’s leading luxury hospitality and concierge provider. Core to every unfolding drama at any given moment of the day, Luxico staff must not only navigate the highly demanding needs of their international guests but also the budding relationships they have with each other.
FEG has distributed a number of third-party movies along with selling in-house Fox TV content since launching in September 2022, but Billion Dollar Playground marks its first third-party TV show. The sales house will distribute eight one-hour episodes of the program to networks and platforms outside of Australia, while representing international format rights.
“Billion Dollar Playground delivers everything docu-soap fans desire — drama, intrigue, romance and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the ultra-high-end lifestyle of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world,” said David Smyth, FEG’s Executive Vice President, Content Sales and Partnerships. “This is a show that will play well, no matter the territory or platform, and we are excited to add Billion Dollar Playground to FEG’s growing stable of owned and third-party content, and sell it to buyers across the globe.”
The announcement was made on the eve of the LA Screenings. Billion Dollar Playground is executive produced by Ben Davies and David Emery, with Bethan Briegel-Jones serving as co-EP and Anita Brown as post EP.
