Kevin Spacey addressed the latest accusations against him tonight during a live TV appearance on NewsNation‘s Cuomo.
In his first live appearance in years, Spacey told host Chris Cuomo he “wants to get back to work” and has “learned” from his experiences.
“I’m trying to show that I’ve listened. I’ve learned. I’ve got the memo,” Spacey said. “I feel very strongly that whatever mistakes I’ve made in my life, that I paid a price.”
A two-part documentary, “Spacey Unmasked,” recently aired in the U.K. and is now streaming on Max. It examines Spacey’s alleged sexual misconduct, including a claim that he allegedly groped another House of Cards actor on set.
Spacey denies the new allegations of inappropriate behavior from the men who were featured in the documentary.
Spacey told Cuomo the MeToo movement “swung far in the direction of unfairness.”
“Honest Journalism” is what Spacey said is needed for his redemption. “I have to work very hard at rebuilding the trust that some may have lost in me. … I have, in fact, listened. I am ready to move forward. … I want to prove that I’m a man of great character. The responsibility for that is mine.”
Spacey said he had never done anything illegal.
As for the documentary’s allegations, Spacey said in a social media post on X that he had “repeatedly requested” that Britain’s Channel 4 give him more than seven days to respond to the allegations made about him in its documentary.
Spacey said the broadcaster refused “on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in seven days to new, anonymized, and nonspecific allegations is a ‘fair opportunity’ for me to refute any allegations made against me.”
“Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated,” Spacey added.
Earlier today, the two-time Oscar winner saw some major star power in his corner.
Liam Neeson, Sharon Stone, and Stephen Fry have come forward with unequivocal support for Spacey, as the much-accused actor has been back in the spotlight via the new Channel 4 docuseries with even more allegations of severe misconduct.
Some of those so-called agendas against Spacey, who has won most of the sexual misconduct suits against him over the past several years or seen them shuttered due to deaths and more, were unveiled in Channel 4’s May 4 debuting Spacey Unmasked.
The Katherine Haywood-directed series, which launched on Max in the U.S. earlier this week, tracks claims from a number of men against Spacey from the beginning of his career up to his stint as the scheming President Frank Underwood on Netflix’s House of Cards.
