Yellowjackets Season 3 has officially started filming in the wilderness. Showtime teased that the new season of the drama has started production.
The network dropped a carousel of photos on social media teasing what’s ahead for the new season, alongside the caption, “We know you’re starving.”
Season 3 of the series will air in 2025, as production on the psychological thriller was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strike.
Pre-production for Season 3 of the drama was shut down a day after the WGA strike began in May 2023. Once the strike was over, the writers room for Yellowjackets reopened in September.
Yellowjackets follows a group of teenagers involved in a plane crash set in 1996 and the aftermath of the accident years later. The series premiered in 2021 and has been acclaimed, scoring seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations in its two seasons, including Outstanding Drama Series on Monday, when it lost out to HBO’s Succession.
The ensemble cast of Yellowjackets includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Liv Hewson and Courtney Eaton in the 1996 era, while their counterparts in the 2021 era are played by Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell.
The last episode that Yellowjackets aired was on May 28, 2023, with the Season 2 finale titled “Storytelling.”
After Showtime shared the photos for Season 3, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Snooki replied, “Hurry uppppppppppp.”
