Apple is expected to announce a new iPad Pro, iPad Air, and accessories at tomorrow’s Let Loose event. Now, it seems one of those little announcements is actually a big one, as Cupertino might be readying to unveil the Apple Pencil Pro instead of the Apple Pencil 3.
X user @ribu_ap712 spotted an interesting detail on Apple’s Japanese page code: References to an Apple Pencil Pro on the keynote’s page. Of course, this product doesn’t exist. Even though the person who added these details might not know the actual name of the upcoming Apple Pencil, it might not be a third-generation, but a “Pro” model to take advantage of all the new features available with the forthcoming OLED iPad Pro.

Over the past few months, Apple has let slip several details about this upcoming Apple Pencil. That said, here’s what Apple might unveil for this Apple Pencil Pro:
- Find My support: iOS 17.4 hints at an Apple Pencil with Find My support. It’s unclear if this accessory will work like an AirTag or MagSafe wallet. Still, seeing where this device might have been left off will be nice.
- Squeeze gestures: iOS 17.5 beta code hints at squeeze gestures. As found by 9to5Mac‘s Filipe Espósito, the feature “can be used for quick interactions such as adding shapes, signatures, stickers, or a text field.”
- Apple Vision Pro support: According to the leak, the user could draw with the Apple Pencil on a desk or another flat surface, and the drawing would appear in the open visionOS app.
There’s even a sketchy leak that believes Apple is planning interchangeable tips. However, no one corroborated that.

Still, if Apple is planning an Apple Pencil Pro brand, this might mean this OLED iPad Pro upgrade will be bigger than we all expected. I hope Cupertino can fix the Apple Pencil’s battery drain issue and also add more quality-of-life improvements.
Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer to discover what Apple has in store for tomorrow’s event.
